This anthology seeks to celebrate the strength that exists in the work of African American poets in the Carolinas region. Many of them are scattered all around the country now, and these poets show themselves to have a great deal in common by being poets who have roots in this region. At the same time, may of the poets collected here have adopted the Carolina as home, as places of cultural and imaginative definitions.
